"I build up textures of thick solid colour, and using a fork or palette knife, pull across the canvas to create time gaps through multi-layering.  Now the work begins to make sense.  Then it's time to bring my kids to the park and then prepare the evening meal whilst thinking of the next layer.  Through a combination of mood, self-belief, availability to paint and all those memories, I look at the work and accept it for what it is."
